At King's Cliffe Endowed Primary School, safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and expect all staff, governors and volunteers to share this commitment.

We want every child to feel safe, happy and confident that there is always an adult they can talk to. Our staff are trained to recognise and respond to concerns about children's safety and wellbeing, and we work closely with families and other agencies where additional support may be needed.

Working Together to Keep Children Safe

There may be occasions when we need to share information and work with other agencies because we have concerns about a child's welfare.

Where appropriate, we will discuss concerns with parents and carers. However, there may be circumstances where doing so could place a child at greater risk. In these situations, the school will always act in the best interests of the child and follow its safeguarding procedures.

Our Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy can be found below and on our School Policies page.

Family Help and Early Help

All families can experience difficult times. Family Help and early help are about making sure children and families receive the right support at the right time, before difficulties become more serious.

Support may be helpful for many different reasons, including concerns about a child's health, development or behaviour; emotional wellbeing; family relationships; housing or financial difficulties; bereavement; caring responsibilities; or other challenges affecting family life.

If you feel that your family may benefit from some additional help, please speak to Mr Norman (DSL) or Mrs Moore (DDSL). We will listen to your concerns and help you consider what support may be available.

Operation Encompass

Kings Cliffe Endowed Primary School participates in Operation Encompass, a partnership between schools and the police which helps schools to provide timely support to children who have experienced or been affected by domestic abuse.

Where the police have attended a domestic abuse incident involving a child from our school, relevant information may be shared securely with the school's Designated Safeguarding Lead. This enables us to provide appropriate support for the child when they arrive at school.

Information received through Operation Encompass is treated sensitively and confidentially.

Online Safety

Keeping children safe online is an important part of safeguarding. We teach children how to use technology safely and responsibly and provide information to help parents and carers support their children at home.

Please visit our Online Safety page for advice, guidance and useful resources.
