Special Educational Needs incl. Local Offer

All schools are supported to be as inclusive as possible, with the needs of pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities being met in a mainstream setting wherever possible.

The four broad ‘areas of need’ are Communication and Interaction, Cognition and Learning, Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties, and Sensory and Physical Needs.

King’s Cliffe Endowed Primary School is fully committed to achieving the maximum inclusion of all children, whilst meeting their individual needs. This includes vulnerable learners who have Special Educational Needs (SEN). We provide access to the curriculum for all children and all Staff have a responsibility for maximising the achievement of every child. This is achieved by offering differentiated learning opportunities for all children within the school and providing materials appropriate to their interests and abilities. The school focuses on individual achievement as the main indicator of success.

The Inclusion and Special Educational Needs Lead (SENCO) is Mrs Yeo, and this provision across the school is overseen by Mrs Bowyer, the Head Teacher.

If you need to contact either the Head Teacher or SENCO their details can be found in the 'Contact Us' tab.

You can view our SEND and Inclusion Policy under our Policies tab here.

What is the Local Offer?

The LA Local Offer:

  • The Children and Families Bill 2014 requires Local Authorities and schools to publish and keep under review, information about services they expect to be available for the children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEND) aged 0-25. This is the ‘Local Offer’.

  • The intention of the Local Offer is to improve choice and transparency for families. It will also be an important resource for parents in understanding the range of services and provision in the local area.

The School SEND Information Report:

This utilises the LA Local Offer to meet the needs of SEND pupils as determined by school policy and the provision that the school is able to meet.

If your Child has Special Educational Needs, what can King’s Cliffe Endowed School offer you?

At King’s Cliffe School, we embrace the fact that every child is different and therefore, the educational need of every child is different; this is certainly the case for children with Special Educational Needs.

The Local Authority have a service that deliver free, impartial information, advice and support to children and young people with SEND and their families.  As part of the Children and Families Act 2014 it is a legal requirement that all local authorities ensure children and young people aged 0 to 25 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) & their parents have access to an impartial Information, Advice and Support (IAS) service.
